Top 10 Favourite Games Off All Time!
Something I was thinking of earlier, instead of just posting a comic for today I will grace you with my top 10 fav. games of all time.
1. QuackShot: Starring Donald Duck (Mega Drive)
One of the first games I played on my Mega Drive and I still love it today, i’ll have to find that game again to play because it’s awesome. It was pretty simple, you played each level as Donal Duck shooting corn or bubbles at people to KO them, then you got plungers which could be used to stun opponents or stick them to walls to climb to, there were so many levels and a pretty decent story, great graphics as well.
2. Tetris (Game Boy)
Everyone know’s Tetris, such a basic game, but I still play it today, the Game Boy version is great but I tend to play it on the DS because I have it and on the Internet when I want to play someone online, as long as it’s got no items, play it how Tetris was meant to be played.
3. Team Buddies (Playstation)
I’m sure none of you know what this game is, an unnoticed RTS/action game, you play as a ‘Buddie’ and built more of your Buddies, there could only be 4 per team and you had to blow up the other team’s base and kill them all as well as build weapons and vehicles with blocks. A fantastic game which I’d love to see some type of online hack for it or a sequel or something.
4. Fable (Xbox)
Yes, I like Fable more than Fable II, maybe it’s because I’ve only had Fable II for about a day, but I still prefer Fable more, it seemed more simplier, easy to control and great replay visual, story seemed better as well but I haven’t got far into Fable II yet so I can’t comapre the two much now.
5. Mega Man 2 (NES)
I’m quite a huge Mega Man fan, I loved the new Mega Man 9 game but Mega Man 2 will still be my favourite, I really liked Mega Man 3 but I prefer this one. A lot of people don’t like Mega Man because it’s too hard, I say they should stop being pussies. This old school Mega Man is better than ZX and Battle Network and all those crazy characters. (Although I do quite like the ZX series :o)
6. Metal Gear Solid (Playstation)
Once again, I prefer the first game over the 3 sequels, although I haven’t played MGS4 and probably won’t. But I absolutley loved this game, the bosses and stealth gameplay were amazing, story was great, only problem is you couldn’t aim with the guns in FPS mode, but that made it better because you focus more on stealth than Rambo run ‘n’ gun.
7. Mario Kart 64 (Nintendo 64)
Oh yes, my favourite Mario Kart game of all time is the N64 version, better than the DS and Wii version, Double Dash is a close second though. I prefer the 64 version more because no blue shells, better race tracks, better control over your Karts, it was possible to stop spinning out of control after hitting a bannana, the only downfall is, it had limited characters, but it’s got Toad so it’s all good.
8. Super Mario sunshine (Gamecube)
Out of all the Super Mario game this has to be my favourite, I really like Super Mario Bros. for the NES, but I like this one more, same gameplay as Super Mario 64 but I prefer the setting on Delfino Plaza, I don’t care much for F.L.U.D.D, he was pretty fun to squirt people with though, and a great story with lots of great humor.
9. Sonic the Hedgehog (Mega Drive)
Oh man, I nostalgia everytime I hear the Green Hill Zone music, fuck I love this game, much better than all the 3D Sonic garbage they’re publishing today. The best 3D Sonic game was Sonic Adventure 2, gameplay was great but the story was possiby my favourite story in any game, it was a tough choice between this and that to go on this review to be honest.
10. Sonic Adventure 2 (GameCube)
So I chose both, like I was saying, the story of this game was simply brilliant, I’d love to watch someone play this game just for the story, the gameplay isn’t so great but better than the more recent games. Although I spent countless hours in the Chao garden training my Chao to look like different Sonic characters.
That’s my top 10 games of all time, took me quite a while to think off that, after looking at that I guess you could call me a bit of a retro-head, no games from the current gen, the most recent games are Fable, Mario Sunshine and Sonic 2. I thinking some current games are no match for the old school games. It’s a shame really.
Also some games that were on the list but got removed and/or some really great games that I love are:
Mega Man 3, Banjo Kazooie, Super Metroid, Pokemon Red, A Link to the Past and Kirby’s Dreamland.
Thanks for reading and goodnight folks.
